Art Nouveau Staircase

At the end of the 1800's a new style rises in Paris, the Art Nouveau. In Germany this style is called Jugendstill and in Dutch 'The salad oil style'. One of the leading figures in the Art Nouveau is Rene Lalique. Nature related designs and unseen frivolity are typical for this style. The curvi-linear lines makes its entree

Not only the new character of this design but also the use of the materials is softly said to be original. Cowhorn, not one of the most precious materials, is used in harmony with gold and gemstones in some of the most expensive jewels. Art Nouveau or Jugendstill is roughly dated from c. 1895 to 1914
