Bracket Clock
A spring-driven clock originally designed to stand on a wall bracket but later on a shelf or table and hence is also known as a mantel or table clock. These clocks were introduced during the late 1600’s after the invention of the pendulum around the 1650’s. British bracket clocks usually have wooden cases but French and later American clocks feature a more diverse range of case materials.
